Current conference

The 2017 meeting will be held November 17 and 18. It will be hosted by the University of Texas at Austin Department of Government. Professors Nate Jensen and Rachel Wellhausen are our local hosts.

Breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday of the conference will be provided as well as a dinner for all participants on Friday evening. Please plan to attend these meals as they are an important opportunity for networking within the conference. Presenters are also strongly encouraged to attend the entire meeting. There will also be an optional dinner on Saturday.

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center will serve as the IPES conference hotel. All conference sessions will take place at the hotel. Friday night’s dinner will be held at the Blanton Museum of Art, which is a short walk from the hotel. For those opting to stay for Saturday night’s dinner at Coopers’s BBQ , we will provide transportation from the hotel. More information about the hotel and the surrounding area:

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center is offering a rate of $185/night to IPES conference participants. This rate is available only through October 17, 2017, using the following link: . For booking by phone rather than on line, call 1-877-744-8822 and use reference code UTINTP117.

The preliminary program is available here. Pre-registration for the conference will open in early September. When the site is open for registration, you will need to pay a $100 registration fee ($25 for students) at that time. Faculty and students from University of Texas at Austin are not required to pay the registration fee, but must still register online for the conference.

IPES does not have any permanent institutional support. All participants are expected to pay their own travel and hotel expenses.

IPES presentations are scheduled in 27-minute blocks. Presentations by authors are limited to 12 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of questions and discussion from the floor. There are no formal discussants.

We are excited to announce IPES 2017 will include an Editors Roundtable. Editors from IO, CPS, ISQ, RIO, and Economics and Politics have confirmed their attendance. The Roundtable will be chaired by Layna Mosley, who organized the event together with our local hosts at UT Austin. At the event, Editors will discuss publishing opportunities for C/IPE research in their journals. They will also discuss the review and editorial process. Questions from the audience will be invited. The Steering Committee hopes this event will be a good opportunity for IPES attendees to get a sense of the journal publishing options, and the review and editorial process, for IPE-related work.
